The professional project that gave rise to Vox Legis began in Asturias in 2012, driven by Judith Gómez Álvarez and Francisco Miranda Velasco, with a focus particularly linked to Criminal Law and a vision of legal practice grounded in technical rigour, personal involvement and the effective defence of fundamental rights.
As the firm grew, it expanded its territorial reach and developed specialised practice areas, with particular emphasis on Economic Crime and the defence of business owners and companies, until it became established as a leading firm operating throughout Spain, with permanent offices in Oviedo, Madrid, Seville and Marbella.
The firm's evolution has also given rise to an ecosystem of specialised initiatives that retain their own separate identities and activities, without constituting a single commercial group within the meaning of article 42 of the Spanish Commercial Code. Vox Legis's commitment to people deprived of liberty took shape in the creation of Asistencia Penitenciaria, and in 2015 it was joined by Éthica Consultoría Empresarial, offering specialised assistance to companies in Corporate Compliance and preventive advice. The ecosystem has since expanded further with its own initiatives in the field of investment and deal financing.
Vox Legis's pro bono commitment to the criminal and prison-law defence of people without resources predates 2025 and has been part of the firm's history since its origins. Since 2025, that commitment has also taken on an institutional dimension: Vox Legis serves as a trustee of Fundación Legis, contributing to the promotion of fair and dignified criminal defence for people deprived of liberty without resources, as well as to other social initiatives.
