Vox Legis provides advice and representation in Civil Law and Family Law to individuals and, in certain civil disputes, to companies as well.

Our work covers family proceedings, financial claims, contractual disputes, civil liability and other disputes of a personal or property-related nature.

We aim to analyse each situation from a practical perspective, assess the possibilities of reaching an agreement where appropriate, and defend our clients' interests before the courts when the dispute requires a judicial solution.

DISCUSS A CIVIL OR FAMILY MATTER →

Family Law

Family proceedings affect personal and financial decisions and, especially when there are minor children, relationships that will continue after the judicial proceedings have ended.

Vox Legis advises and represents clients in separation and divorce proceedings, both by mutual agreement and contested, as well as in matters relating to custody, visitation arrangements, child maintenance, compensatory pensions and parent-child measures.

Separation and Divorce

When a couple decides to end their relationship, it becomes necessary to determine the personal and financial consequences arising from the separation.

When the parties are in agreement, a settlement agreement can be drawn up setting out the relevant measures. When there is no agreement, it will be for the court to resolve the disputed issues according to the circumstances of the case and, where there are minor children, with particular regard to their best interests.

Custody and Relationships with Children

Decisions relating to children must be analysed in light of their circumstances and needs.

Custody, contact and visitation arrangements, the exercise of parental authority and the parents' financial obligations are among the matters that may be subject to agreement or judicial decision.

Pensions and Financial Measures

The financial consequences of a separation may include child maintenance, compensatory pensions, contributions towards certain expenses and other measures relating to family costs.

Their determination depends on the economic and personal circumstances present in each case.

Modification of Measures

Measures agreed upon or established by the court may need to be reviewed when the circumstances that justified their adoption have substantially changed.

Modification requires an assessment of whether the change that has occurred is significant and stable enough to justify new arrangements.

When a Family Dispute Also Has Criminal Implications

Not every family dispute constitutes a criminal matter. However, certain situations can simultaneously give rise to family and criminal proceedings, which must be analysed separately.

When circumstances require it, Vox Legis can coordinate its work in Family Law with its specialised Criminal Law department.

CRIMINAL LAW →

Civil Law

Vox Legis advises and represents individuals and companies in civil disputes relating to obligations, contracts, liability and assets.

Before initiating judicial proceedings, we analyse the available documentation, the parties' positions, the possibilities for claim or defence, and the existing alternatives for resolving the dispute.

Contracts and Contractual Disputes

Breach or interpretation of a contract can give rise to financial obligations and disputes between the parties.

Our work covers contract analysis, claims arising from breach, termination of contracts and defence against claims brought by third parties.

When the contract is directly linked to business activity, the matter may be coordinated with the Commercial Law department.

COMMERCIAL LAW →

Debt and Payment Claims

We act in claims for debts and amounts owed arising from civil and contractual relationships.

Before initiating proceedings, we analyse the documentation evidencing the debt, its enforceability and the real possibilities of claiming and recovering it.

Civil Liability

Causing harm can give rise to an obligation to compensate when the legally established requirements are met.

Vox Legis acts both in civil liability claims and in defence against compensation claims.

Leases and Property Disputes

We provide advice on certain disputes arising from leases, the use of property, ownership and relationships between owners.

Purchase and sale transactions, investment, due diligence and property development are handled through Vox Legis's dedicated Property Investments department.

PROPERTY INVESTMENTS →

Negotiated Solutions and Judicial Defence

Not all disputes need to end up in court. When there is reasonable scope for reaching an agreement, we consider negotiation as a possible alternative to proceedings.

When an agreement is not feasible or does not adequately protect the client's interests, we take on their representation before the relevant Courts and Tribunals.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it necessary to go to court to get divorced?
Not always. When the parties agree, a divorce by mutual agreement can be processed with a settlement agreement. When there is no agreement, the proceedings are contested and are resolved by the court. The appropriate route depends on the specific circumstances of the case.
Can the measures of a divorce be modified?
Yes, when there is a substantial and lasting change in the circumstances that justified the original measures. Each request for modification requires an individual assessment of whether that change is significant enough.
How is custody determined?
It is assessed in light of the circumstances of the child and the specific case, without automatic formulas. Factors such as the availability of the parents, the child's environment and their best interests are decisive.
What can I do if I am owed money?
The debt, the documentation evidencing it, its enforceability and the debtor's solvency should be reviewed before deciding on the most appropriate route for claiming it, whether judicial or out-of-court.
When can I claim damages?
When there is proven harm, a basis for liability (contractual or non-contractual) and sufficient evidence of the link between the conduct and the harm suffered.
What happens if a family dispute also has criminal implications?
Family and criminal proceedings are independent and are analysed separately. When circumstances require it, Vox Legis coordinates its work in Family Law with its Criminal Law department.
Can Vox Legis handle a civil case outside my city?
Yes. Vox Legis has offices in Madrid, Marbella, Seville and Oviedo and can coordinate action in civil and family proceedings at different locations across Spain.
